Menter Môntylwyth
scroll for the storyTylwyth — Welsh for family, clan, kin — is the community archaeology project working the upland enclosures above Harlech in Ardudwy, Eryri (Snowdonia). Volunteer diggers under archaeological supervision, square-and-line laid out across an intact drystone-walled platform, a bell tent for finds processing, weather coming in off the sea and onto the hill in horizontal rain.
Menter Môn commissioned this case-study film as part of their wider series on community projects across north-west Wales. We spent the day at the dig — interview with the project lead in waterproofs ("CARNEDDAU" hood up against the rain), close-ups of the survey string-line being pegged into the grass, the volunteer with red gloves and yellow bucket clearing turf, hands holding a lifted plug of moss and root, and a mason's mallet at rest on a wet slate slab between strikes.
The film was delivered bilingually with full Welsh and English subtitles, ready for Menter Môn's social channels and partner network.
