By the time Mona Digital filmed Wasted On You, there were already two other Mad Haven singles in the same 2025 release cycle: Take Control and Undecided. The brief for Wasted On You was to close the trilogy. Three singles, all filmed by the same studio, each standing alone but visually coherent as a body of work.
A closing single carries different weight to an opening one. It doesn’t need to introduce the band. It needs to be the version people remember.
the approach
The decision to shoot in cinematic 21:9 widescreen was a deliberate break from the square and 16:9 formats that dominate social platforms. 21:9 feels like cinema. On a phone, the black bars tell you to pay attention rather than scroll. On a screen, it fills the field of vision properly. It’s a framing decision that says: this isn’t a social clip, it’s a film.
A third single that is simply more of the same isn’t a closer. The format choice was part of making Wasted On You feel like a statement rather than a continuation.

The shoot day was 8 June 2025. Tom, the band’s lead guitarist and main production contact, wrote immediately after: “Thanks for a great day of filming today.” The audio master—Waste It On You MIX 2.wav—arrived 25 August 2025, setting the post-production timeline.
Earlier in the same release cycle, Tom’s response to the Take Control teaser—“The teaser you have done is PERFECT!”—gave a clear signal about what the band responds to: pace, atmosphere, and restraint over complexity.

Wasted On You was released as Mad Haven’s third single in 2025. The full trilogy—Wasted On You, Take Control, Undecided—was produced entirely by Mona Digital in the same calendar year, making this the most sustained production relationship in the current portfolio.

Independent bands in North Wales don’t always get music videos made properly. They get phone footage shot by a friend, or a single afternoon with someone learning as they go. The Mad Haven relationship started in December 2022 with the music video for Liar — their first proper MV. By 2025 the band chose to commit to the format properly, three times in a single year, with a consistent visual identity across all three singles.
That’s a statement about where the band is going and what it thinks it’s worth. Mona Digital was there for the first one in 2022, and for all three of the 2025 trilogy.
